Using the plate for the Kamado cookers, there was still a gap between the plate and the body. I've also tried running it to do a smoke on my Vision Classic B Kamado. But now it is so choked down the airflow takes time to really recover. after I've been in the cooker and the lid detection goes off, the fan kicks on. trying to stabilize the cooker at startup, often seeing the fan shut off, but air feeding the fire and the temps climbing or 2. With the Fireboard, I have to close the ball valve almost entirely and also have the slider damper shut way down to try and inhibit the amount of air that gets in just sitting there. I NEVER had an issue, unless I installed the fan upside down where the flapper would therefore be open. Stoker says it needs air, bam, fan turns on and I get air. With my Stoker, I could run the ball valve fully open and let the flapper regulate the airflow. On my large gravity feeds, this has been a constant issue. With the damper always being in an open position AND the body of the fan unit having openings from being punched for the arms, the fan constantly allows for air to draft into the fire. Fan shuts off, flapper falls against the opening, no air goes through. My Stoker had a flap within the fan - fan blowing, flap opens, air goes through.

The two arms that attach plates slide into metal brackets that were punched out of the fan body, while the damper is a metal slide through that you control the volume of air you want to go through the fan.

What I DO NOT LIKE is the body of the fan itself. Now for the fan - I like the size of the fan, the ability to set max fan speed via the app (I don't need a 20CFM fan coming off of a 5CFM fan for my gravity fed pits), and the ability to switch adapters via the plates. Gives me the peace of mind if there were power issues that it will run w/o missing a beat. I really like the ability to set custom aspects with the drive, from set point to the degree, lid open detector and time spent not blowing the fan, and definitely the ability to run on a battery if needed. I wish the drive had a dual drive capability on it, as I do have two large gravity smokers and would prefer to be able to run both of them off of one device, and will potentially at some point, order a 2nd as a result. I LOVE the graphing and the ability to have six temp probes running. When hooked up to wifi I can leave my cooker alone and go off about my business, even run errands, and monitor it where I'm at. When I was back in Kansas City for trip to see family, I saw the Fireboard at the KC BBQ Store and ultimately went with it. Stokers went out of business (unfortunately) and I needed to replace mine with something that I could use. Currently I have a Fireboard 2 Drive after having been on Stoker's (Rocks BBQ) for a number of years on my gravity fed pits (I used to compete in KCBS events for a few years).
